Forever Changed

Forever Changed is an informative self-advocacy group designed to help parents who have lost their child to violence. Losing my son, who was only 20 years old, to gun violence, has been the most painful experience of my life. As his case was being investigated, I experienced frustration and added pain because I didn’t understand the legal system and its processes. What seemed simple to me was much more complicated because of legal limitations and rules of law. Forever Changed will give you the opportunity to hear directly from the individuals who work on homicide cases: detectives, evidence technicians, and district attorneys. There will be presentations providing a general overview of information and you will have the opportunity to ask questions of individuals qualified to answer them. You will learn about victim’s rights and what resources are available through the California Victim Compensation Board (CalVCB). You will gain better understanding of what is involved  with investigating, solving, prosecuting and resolving homicide cases. It is my hope this information will shed light on what can seem like a mysterious and secretive process. This knowledge will help you become more confident in advocating for justice of your loved one during your healing journey.
